During the month of August 2021 on Thursdays (2.30-4.30) we hosted craft afternoons.
Activities included creating and making:
- Animal masks.
- Making wild flower bombs for the garden.
- Paws and Claws and stories.
- Modelling using recycled materials.
- Word searches, colouring sheets + more…
Our cafe was also be open with the usual selection of drinks and delicious cake.
Here’s what we got up to:
Week 1
During week 1 the library was busy getting creative. Our August craft sessions began with picture making – using natural materials. Weaving using grasses and creating miniature gardens ( habitats ) for wildlife.
A fun session with a wonderful smell of fresh rosemary too.
Week 2
This week around 15 children called into the library and created their very own animal habitats using boxes, craft and plant materials.
It was lovely to see so many families enjoying the crafts , the coffee, squash and cake from the cafe as well as taking home a fresh selection of books to read.
The Summer Reading Challenge and August crafts continue…
Week 3
This week was once again a busy afternoon around the craft table. About 15 children called into the library during the afternoon to join in the crafts- designing and making their own luminaries using leaves and tissue paper.
Children also designed and created their very own paper plate fish.
Week 4
Following the take your litter home campaign, this week we created our very own litter critters. Below are some of the creations made.
Young designers also created their very own hungry caterpillars.
Linking into the Bristol Water – la la lakeside (Chew Valley Lake guide to spotting different butterflies) , created a range of butterflies too.
That was our last craft session for this summer. Thanks to all the families that joined us over the month for crafts, books, coffee, squash and cake.
We hope to see you all again next time.
